With new design the World Cup 2003 goes to the start. The qualification starts already in october 2002 for the second World Cup in the American football. Japan wants to defend the title four years after the last world championship. But the incumbent European champion Germany also wants have a word a say. For many it would be a dream to win the "Cup" in front of an audience of one's own.

As a venue for the world championship the Rhine-Main area was chosen. With Frankfurt as a center the Rhine-Main area has several worldcup fit stadiums and a football infrastructure grown. Already the EM finale 2000 in Hanau has for it turned out, the sports region Rhine-Main can be a good host for international events.
